What is Lobby Day?

Lobby Day is an opportunity for everyone to connect with lawmakers and their staff to share their experiences in the hydropower and marine energy industries. Despite the fact that hydropower accounted for 7% of US electricity production and 38% of renewable power production in 2020, hydropower is sometimes overlooked as clean energy resource. By connecting with Members of Congress and their staff, we can raise hydropower’s profile and advance policies that support our industry.

Raise your voice to your Congressional representatives!

What do attendees need to do?

Plan on spending the afternoon on Tuesday, April 5 sharing your stories with Members of Congress and their staff.

What to expect?

Having fun! Connecting with Members of Congress and their staff can be a great experience. Members of Congress are excited to learn about what their constituents are working on. Staffers are often excited to hear more about exciting technologies like waterpower and marine energy. NHA members have reported that lobbying makes them feel like their voices are heard and government works for them. We look forward to you having a similar experience.

Some Members of Congress are beginning to schedule in-person meetings, so you might be able to visit Capitol Hill. Many congressional offices are still remote, but connecting virtually with your representatives is still a rewarding experience.
